Terms of Service

Last updated: August 31, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Eden Collective LLC, a California limited liability company ("Eden Collective," "we," "us," or "our"), which operates the Sow mobile application (the "App") and the trysow.app website.

By downloading, installing, creating an account, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Sow. If you live in a country where a higher minimum age applies to consent to the processing of personal data (for example, 16 in parts of the European Economic Area), you must be at least that age. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Sow with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

By using the App you represent that you meet these requirements, that you are not barred from using the App under applicable law, and that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country.

3. Description of Service

Sow is a Bible devotional and journaling application. Depending on your tier and the features you enable, it provides:

  • Daily scripture reading, reading plans, and devotional guidance
  • Personal journaling, sermon notes, verse highlighting, and photo attachments
  • Prayer recording with on-device transcription
  • AI-assisted scripture exploration and insights (see Section 7)
  • Group reading plans shared with friends and family, including a shared mosaic that reveals as the group reads
  • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets
  • Cloud synchronization across your Apple devices via iCloud
  • Backup export and restore of your entries
  • Optional daily reminders, group notifications, and — if you ask for it when starting a free trial — one reminder before that trial ends
  • A link to our public feature request board, hosted by UserJot, which opens in a web view inside the App

4. Subscription and Payment Terms

4.1 Free and Plus Tiers

Sow offers both free and Plus subscription options:

  • Free Tier: Unlimited standalone devotionals, Bible reading, journaling, sermon notes, voice prayer, verse highlighting, iCloud sync across your devices, backup export and restore, one group of up to 5 members, 3 Ask Sow messages per week, and one set of journal insights, and one guided reading plan from our built-in library (once you finish that plan, starting another guided plan requires Sow Plus).
  • Sow Plus: Everything in Free, plus 30 Ask Sow messages per day, the full reading plan library and custom plans you build yourself, more groups with up to 12 members each, custom group mosaic photos, journal paper backgrounds, and insights drawn from your entries that you can refresh up to 10 times a day.

The specific limits that apply to each tier are described in the App and in our FAQ, and may change as described in Section 13.

4.2 Subscription Options and Pricing

Sow Plus is offered as an auto-renewing subscription in two billing periods. Both unlock exactly the same features; the only difference is how often you are billed. As of the date above, U.S. pricing is:

  • Monthly — $7.99 per month, billed every month.
  • Annual — $39.99 per year, billed once a year, and including a one-week free trial for eligible new subscribers (see below).

Local pricing and currency are set by the App Store for your region. Sow does not offer a lifetime (one-time) purchase, and Sow Plus is not available through Family Sharing — a subscription applies to the Apple ID that purchased it.

Free trial eligibility. The one-week free trial is available on the annual plan only, and only to subscribers who have not previously used an introductory offer for Sow Plus. Eligibility is determined by Apple and is tied to your Apple ID and to the Sow Plus subscription group as a whole — once an introductory offer has been used, it cannot be used again. The App shows whether the trial applies to you before you confirm any purchase.

4.3 Automatic Renewal, Billing, and Cancellation

Important: Sow Plus renews automatically. A monthly subscription renews every month and an annual subscription renews every year, at the then-current price, until you cancel. If you start a free trial, it converts to a paid annual subscription automatically unless you cancel before it ends. Auto-renew must be turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period — including the last day of a free trial — to avoid being charged.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • If you started a free trial: no payment is taken during the trial. Your Apple ID is charged the annual price within 24 hours before the trial ends, and the subscription then renews yearly. Cancelling during the trial stops the charge; you keep Plus features until the trial period ends.
  • Your subscription renews automatically for successive terms of the same length — monthly or yearly, whichever you chose — at the then-current price, unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
  • To cancel: open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, select Sow, and tap Cancel Subscription. You may also manage subscriptions at any time in your App Store account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; your Plus features remain active through the end of the period you already paid for.

4.4 Refunds

All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. Refund requests must be made through Apple according to their refund policies. We cannot process refunds directly. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable refund or cancellation right you have under the consumer laws of your country or state.

4.5 Price Changes

We may change subscription prices. Any price change applies to the next billing cycle after notice is provided, and where required by law or by Apple, your affirmative consent will be obtained before the new price is charged. If you do not agree to a price change, you may cancel as described in Section 4.3.

5. User Accounts and Authentication

To use Sow, you must sign in using either:

  • Sign in with Apple
  • Sign in with Google

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly at hello@trysow.app if you believe your account has been compromised.

Deleting your account: you can permanently delete your account and its server-side data at any time from within the App under Profile → Delete Account. See our Privacy Policy for what deletion covers.

6. Your Content

6.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you create in Sow, including:

  • Devotional reflections, journal entries, and sermon notes
  • Prayer recordings and transcriptions
  • Photos you attach to entries or upload for a group mosaic
  • Personal notes, highlights, and annotations

6.2 License You Grant Us

So that we can operate the App, you grant Eden Collective a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, adapt for technical purposes (such as resizing an image), and display your content solely to the extent necessary to provide the features you use. Concretely, this license covers only:

  • Content you explicitly choose to share with a group — such as a shared reflection, your display name, or a mosaic photo you upload — which we store on our servers and display to the other members of that group
  • Text you submit to an optional AI-assisted feature you have enabled, which is transmitted to our processing partner to generate your result (Section 7)

This license does not extend to your private journal entries, which we neither receive nor store. The license ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except for copies already distributed to other group members and for reasonable backup or log copies that expire in the ordinary course. We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not sell it.

6.3 Content Storage

Your content is stored:

  • Locally on your device (all users)
  • In Apple's iCloud for cross-device sync (all users)
  • On our servers only for the group content described in Section 6.2

We do not access, review, or use your personal devotional content except in the limited circumstances described in our Privacy Policy (for example, reviewing content that another member has reported, responding to a support request you send us, or complying with law).

6.4 Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content you create and for having the rights to any photo or text you upload or share. While Sow is designed for spiritual reflection, we do not monitor or endorse any specific theological views expressed in your personal content.

7. Optional AI-Assisted Features

7.1 Features and Consent

Sow offers optional features that use a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) to process text on our behalf:

  • Ask Sow: a chat assistant for exploring Scripture
  • Insights: summaries of themes, prayers, and growth drawn from your journal entries
  • Page Scanning: converting photos of handwritten journal pages into text

These features are turned off by default. The first time you use one, we disclose what will be shared and ask for your explicit permission, and you may turn them on or off at any time in Profile → Privacy. Declining or disabling them does not affect journaling, Scripture reading, or any other part of the App. How your data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.

7.2 Accuracy and Limitations

By using these features, you understand that:

  • Responses and summaries are generated by a third-party service (OpenAI) and may contain errors
  • They should not be considered authoritative theological teaching, and you should verify any scriptural interpretations with trusted sources

These features are not a substitute for:

  • Professional pastoral counseling
  • Mental health, medical, legal, or financial advice
  • Crisis intervention

If you are experiencing a crisis, please contact appropriate emergency services or crisis hotlines.

8. Scripture Content

Bible text is provided through API.Bible and is subject to their terms of service and the Fair Use Management System (FUMS). Different translations may have different copyright restrictions. Scripture text is licensed to you for personal devotional use within the App only; you may not redistribute it in bulk or use it to build a competing product.

9. Groups and Community Guidelines

Sow lets you join groups to read and grow together. Content you share with a group, such as your display name, your group's name and photo, and shared reflections, is visible to the other members of that group.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. By creating an account, you agree to these community guidelines:

  • Treat other members with respect. Harassment, hate speech, threats, sexually explicit material, and spam are not allowed.
  • You can report any content or member from within the app. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours, and offending content and users are removed.
  • You can block any member at any time to stop seeing their content.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines, without prior notice.

10. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use the App to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Circumvent any rate limiting or usage restrictions
  • Scrape, bulk-download, or resell Scripture text or any other content made available through the App
  • Use the App or its outputs to develop a competing product or to train a machine learning model

11. Intellectual Property

The Sow app, including its design, features, source code, and branding, is owned by Eden Collective LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules.

Feedback. If you send us suggestions, feature requests, or other feedback, you grant us an unrestricted, perpetual, royalty-free right to use it without any obligation or compensation to you. Our feature request board (Profile → Help → Feature Requests) is hosted by UserJot and is public — anything you post there is visible to other people, so do not post anything you would not want read publicly, and posting is subject to UserJot's own terms as well as these.

12. Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services, including Apple, Google, API.Bible, OpenAI, Cloudflare, PostHog, and UserJot. Your use of the App through those services is also subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their acts, omissions, or availability. The services we use and what they receive are listed in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to the Service

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, tiers, and usage limits at any time, including limits that apply to the free tier. We will not materially reduce the features included in a Sow Plus subscription you have already paid for during that paid term without giving you notice and, where the reduction is material, the ability to cancel and seek a pro-rated refund from Apple.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components, or that any content, insight, or AI-generated output will be accurate. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of your content.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Eden Collective LLC and its members, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to the App.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for Sow Plus in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

These limits apply even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you, and nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for fraud, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence).

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Eden Collective LLC and its members, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) content you create, upload, or share, including in a group; (b) your violation of these Terms or of applicable law; or (c) your infringement of any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights. We will notify you of any such claim and may participate in the defense with counsel of our choosing.

17. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time and may delete your account from within the App (Profile → Delete Account).

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, to us, or to third parties, or if we discontinue the App.

If we terminate your account for a reason other than your violation of these Terms and you have an unused portion of a paid Sow Plus term, you may request a pro-rated refund from Apple. Sections 6.2 (as to copies already shared), 8, 11, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, and 22 survive termination. Terminating or deleting your account does not automatically delete content already visible to other members of a group, and does not delete your local or iCloud data, which you control through your device and Apple ID.

18. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

Please read: arbitration and class action waiver

This section contains a binding arbitration agreement and a class action waiver. Unless you opt out within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, you and Eden Collective LLC agree to resolve disputes through individual arbitration rather than in court, and you give up the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. Section 18.6 explains exactly how to opt out.

18.1 Informal Resolution First

Before filing a claim, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by emailing us at hello@trysow.app with a description of the dispute and the relief you seek. We will do the same. If the dispute is not resolved within 60 days, either party may begin arbitration.

18.2 Agreement to Arbitrate

Except as set out in Sections 18.4 and 18.6, you and Eden Collective LLC agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration will be conducted by a single arbitrator. Unless you and we agree otherwise, any in-person hearing will take place in the county where you live, and the arbitrator may also permit a telephone or video hearing or a documents-only proceeding. The arbitrator's award may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this section.

18.3 Class Action and Jury Trial Waiver

You and Eden Collective LLC agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims. You and we waive any right to a jury trial.

If this Section 18.3 is found unenforceable as to a particular claim or request for relief, then that claim or request for relief — and only that one — shall be severed from the arbitration and brought in the courts identified in Section 19, while all remaining claims proceed in arbitration.

18.4 Exceptions

Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court, and either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in court to stop unauthorized use or abuse of the App or infringement of intellectual property rights. Nothing in this section prevents you from bringing an issue to the attention of a government agency.

18.5 Costs

Payment of arbitration fees is governed by the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. Where those rules require you to pay a filing fee that exceeds what you would pay to file in court, we will pay the difference.

18.6 Your Right to Opt Out

You can opt out of this arbitration agreement. Email hello@trysow.app with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" within 30 days of the date you first accept these Terms, and include your name and the email address associated with your Sow account. Opting out has no other effect on your use of Sow, and we will not treat it as a reason to terminate your account. If you opt out, Sections 18.2 and 18.3 do not apply to you, and disputes are resolved in the courts identified in Section 19.

18.7 Changes to This Section

If we materially change this Section 18 after you accept these Terms, you may reject the change by emailing us at hello@trysow.app within 30 days of the change, in which case the version of Section 18 you previously accepted continues to apply to you.

19. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. For any dispute not subject to arbitration under Section 18, you and we consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in California.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts and to the protection of mandatory consumer provisions that cannot be derogated from by agreement, nothing in this section or in Section 18 deprives you of those rights.

20. Apple App Store Terms

The following applies because you obtained the App through Apple's App Store:

  • These Terms are between you and Eden Collective LLC, not Apple. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App or its content.
  • Scope of license. The license granted in Section 11 is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • Maintenance and support. Eden Collective LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the App. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services.
  • Warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the App. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the App to you (if any). Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are the sole responsibility of Eden Collective LLC.
  • Product claims. Eden Collective LLC, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
  • Intellectual property claims. If a third party claims that the App infringes that party's intellectual property rights, Eden Collective LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
  • Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
  • Contact. Questions, complaints, and claims about the App should be directed to hello@trysow.app.

21. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or via email and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the App and delete your account.

22. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Eden Collective LLC regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements.
  • Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions stay in full force.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
  • Electronic communications. You consent to receive communications from us electronically, including in-app notices and email, and agree that these satisfy any legal requirement that a communication be in writing.
  • Notices. Legal notices to us should be sent to hello@trysow.app.
